Left exhaust manifold/riser overheating

Okay, my 5 year-old Glastron SX 195 bow rider with 50 hours has a 5.0 GL I/O Volvo engine. Last weekend I was towing the kids around on a tube when the overheat buzzer came on. I shut down the engine but not before noticing the temperature gauge indicated 150 degrees (normal). I restarted the engine and in a few minutes the buzzer came on again, even without pulling the kids on the tube. The faster I went the louder the buzzer got, and still, the engine temperature gauge showed no signs of overheating.

We were not far from the dock so I decided to wait 30 minutes or so and then try again, which I did. The buzzer never came on again on the way in but smoke started coming from the engine compartment. Upon opening the cover I noticed the rubber coupler from the left manifold was melting where it attaches to the outboard exhaust pipe. The right manifold was cool with no problem and that coupler was okay. And, though we made it to the dock with no crisis, it is obvious the water circulation on the left manifold is inadequate.

So, my question is, should I pull the left manifold and riser off to check for clogging? Or is there another factor that could be causing this problem? One of my friends said it could be the water pump. But, I say which one? There are two pumps: one raw water pump and one circulating pump.

Just for reference, the boat is used in only 100% salt water, though I faithfully flush, flush, flush with muffs after every outing.

Help please.

Don't have an answer for you, but I think you'd get a lot more responses and advice if you posted this over in the engine & outdrive category under the repair and maintenance section.
