Does anybody know how this works on marine equipment? My 200 HPDI is dead again. First a powerhead blew with only 56 hrs. Now, with 13 hrs. on the new one, it died while planing, this time no knocking noises heard (the "angry beavers gurgle of death").Just lost power and went to sleep. Starter turns but not firing. No alarms came on. Taking it to the shop today, will update on situation later on the Yammie forum. The problem is, I do not feel comfortable leaving shore anymore.Should I expect more out of a $12,000 piece of equipment?

"A day in the water going back home with a kicker at 4mph is better than a day at work???"

I would take it back and demand a new replacement, not a powerhead, etc, etc, etc. If they won't comply, take it up with corporate...go as far up the ladder as you have to. Squeeky wheel gets the grease.

Hey, I can go far up the ladder for 12k! I understand that their responsibility is to "get it working" again, for free, during the warranty period but then after ?? The extended warranty for extra 3 yrs. is $1650. Pretty cheap when you consider that the powerhead replacement is $3400 plus $215 S/H plus 5.3 hrs. labor. Now it sounds electrical b/c it just died without warning noises. But, if it is a design flaw, poor engineering, then, they should recognize it and offer a fix or replace the whole thing. We'll see.

Gather all the failed motors and make a Yamaha Reef? OK as long as the oils are drained , etc. or EPA locks you in. Make sure that the environment is protected and little fish are not hurt, just s...w the humans. Ahh, I feel better!

I understand merc quit selling them for now. I have no clue what is up. give me an old style 200 with carbs and I can go 10 years
good luck and keep us posted
