Ok i will ask this in general so others can be helped if they need it too? What shaft length should I get compared to the transom height? and how do i know the shaft length of my motor? is a shorter or longer shaft motor faster or will a prop deeper in the water or shallower faster?

Re: length of motor vs boat?

you want to get the shaft length that matches your transom. If your transom is 15" get a short shaft (15" shaft length); 20" transom-20" shaft length; etc. The motor should have the shaft length in its info; or if it's a used outboard, ask the owner. If he doesn't know, then research the motor. If the shaft length is too long, it will drag. If it is too short, the prop will not "bite" into the water and cause all kinds of havoc.
