I have to change my trim/tilt unit on my 1978 Johsnon 85HP. Does anyone know what size socket I need to take off the large nut that is on the bottom of the steering arm assembly. The part number for the nut is 0320746

Thanks!!!

Another site says 1 1/16" but the guy was hazarding a guess.....a set of digital calipers will tell you for sure!

Its got to be bigger than that. I tried my trailer hitch ball wrench on it, and it is even a little too small. I was hoping to find out before I go home, so I could borrow the correct size socket from work before I leave today.

I checked the parts manual, but the description does not include the nut size.

Measure it, tape measure, calipers are best.

Thats what I will do tonight, but I am hoping to get an answer today. That way I won't have to go back to work again later to get the correct size socket. Anyone else know the answer?

Yeah she is a big one... hopefully you sprayed a little something on it before hand...

I had to do engine mounts on my 140.. I needed to apply a tad bit of heat to pop the rust flakes off...she came off easy..

good luck!
