Lets talk about FLOATATION FOAM

I'm grinding out all of the wood in a 1983 Bayliner Capri 1600. Pour in place expanding foam seems to have been used haphazardly throughout the boat. A little was found outboard of the stringers, some was under the sides of the hull where the cap and lower section meet. Two compartments, the ones under the driver and passenger consoles were full. This pour in place foam looks tricky and very expensive compared to 2 pound density foam panels that could be cut and placed. What are the thoughts on doing this? I have no issue with spending money. I'm just not convinced the effort and mess are worth the poured foam when I can strip nice long lengths of foam and neatly place them in the voids.

Capri, please know that we are not trying to shunt your thread. The subject has been covered many times but being new, you wouldnt realize that and you probably aren't good at defining seaches on this board yet.

Go ahead and search a few times to get the knack of refining a search and I think you'll find all the info you're looking for.
