Definately a Ford small block, looks like a 302, block casting indicates 1968, the accell goodies were popular to the era and the holman $ Moody manifolds are trick.
Block looks too narrow to be a 351 "wheezer"
Also just noticed firing order indicates 302. (not HO)
1968 was the 1st. year for a factory 4 bbl 302.
numbers indicate block was cast April 23 1968

measure the distance (width)between 2 intake manifold bolts, 8 1/5 :302, 9 1/2: 351

Volvo didn't use any fords accept in the mid 70s when they has the aq190 and aq240 302/351, and again in the mid 90s with OMC.

That engine doesn't look like a Volvo Penta to me. Could it be a Crusader engine? I don't even know if Crusader was still around in '85.

You may try contacting Sea Ray and see what engines they were offering in that boat.

Good Luck.

The fuel bowls have sight windows, I don't believe Marine carbs have those, with the arrestor off you should see a unique looking overflow tube common to marine holleys. I see a non marine fuel pump also, your engine i'm guessing was pulled from a late 60's early 70 pickup truck and was marineized with bare essentials to function but not entirely code safe according to regulation.

Crankcase breather is routed under the carburetor, spacer plate.
Firing order is ground off marine intake manifolds, 351 windsor firing order is normal.

LOL seems like that but Ford part numbers actually all have a code easy to crack and I know it by heart, so Yea, I bleed Ford blue. it's all comming back to me that "Z" in the number designates mustang, wow! a vintage 302 4 bbl. mustang engine, depending on the serial number on the block, could be worth alot more than you would think.

Thank you all for the input, I really appreciate it. And yes the engine is indeed a 182HP 302 made by FORD with 2v holly. Finally found a book with all the info on it. Its the only ford volvo combo for that sea ray year. Again thank you for your time and help.

It does seem that 182HP is a little wimpy for a 302 does it not... Any who book says 4300 RMP max and idle of 600 to 650. I have to iddle at about 2200 or it stalls. Gots to look into that now...

Look at the RPM the engine turning.
Boat applications usually don't turn big RPM.
If that small block was turning at 6,500 to 8,000, horsepower would a tad higher.
