Don't know about the paint, dygrp, but stick-ons can be removed with a hair dryer and a PLASTIC scraper.

Good luck. :)

Make sure the hairdryer is on high heat. :) Or you can use a heatgun carefully. They have a rubber thing at paint and body shops that work like an eraser too that fits in a drill.

Yeah, they do, Realgun. I bought one this summer. They work real good for removing decals off of some finishes and burn thru the finish of others. A stated caveat is 'do not use on lacquers'. I verified that. It burned right thru the lacquer, but it worked real well on enamel. The instructions said nothing about gel coat so I would proceed with great caution. If it does not burn the gel coat, it will be very effective. I still might try to warm up the decals b4 using it.

Re: lettering removal

Yesterday I removed TX boat reg stickers going back to 1978 from my 15 ft. fiberglass fish-n-ski trihull. I can claim responsibility for only one of those stickers. It was not going well until I remembered the decal remover my wife bought for me at an auto parts store. It has a plastic scraper and a bottle of stuff to loosen the decal and clean off the residue after removal. Was probably an $3-$8 item, worth every penny. Now I'm contemplating a run at removing/renewing the lettering and numbers.

For the residue, things that have worked for me are alcohol, mineralspirts and "goof off". I always admonish: try the solvent in a hidden place lest you eat through the finish! (never happened, but you never know)

Re: lettering removal

Hairdryer didnt work,so i bought some special marine paint remover safe for fiberglass and it didnt work. I started sanding the lettering with 250 sand paper and that works, but its taking too long. The lettering was painted on, its not a decal they must of used epoxy paint? Any ideas?

Just use good old fashion oven cleaner. Dont leave it on long and rinse it good.
