Hi,
Ive got an almost complete Mercruiser AlphaOne outdrive together with a project boat. I don´t need the drive and want to sell it on ebay. Some folks are asking me about the internal gear ratio of the drive, they said that the inputshaft of the "leg" should be marked with a letter. Ive looked it up and found the driveshaft to be stamped with the letter "H"- but what does this mean? Id like to provide more information to my interested bidders thats why Im asking- maybe somebody here knows a site where they have this data?
many greetings from Germany,
Rotti

Re: Letters on driveshaft

Sorry that won't help, so you musy either remove the top cap and count the teeth to get the ratio or mark the shafts put the unit in gear and turn the input shaft and see how many turns it takes for 1 revolution on the prop shaft, it's easier to count the teeth

Re: Letters on driveshaft

According to my Alpha merc manual, H = 1.32:1 gearing. It doesn't garrentee that someone didn't change them. Probably came from a high hp engine.
