To Sen. Chuck Hagel:

I am ashamed of you Senator Hagel! Why would you want to defund our troops with a bill that sets a surrender date? If you really were a soldier in Vietnam, you have lost your way.

Why a timetable for the war in Iraq? You are emboldening our sworn
enemy by this. You are saying "This is the date we officially surrender to you". Absolutely disgusting.

Why all the pork in the bill for our troops? Because they will never pass by themselves, that's why! Give the President a clean bill to take care of the troops.

Why must congress try to fight the war! It is NOT your job. Stop wasting time and get onto the real business that you have to do.

I am ashamed to admit that you are representing me in the senate. I think the election in '08 will send you a message.

And to Senator Nelson:

I am ashamed of you Senator Nelson! First you vote against the supplemental defense bill, then you "flip flop" and vote for it.

Why a timetable for the war in Iraq? You are emboldening our sworn enemy by this.

I am sick and tired of this partisan junk. I thought that the Democrats promised to work with the Republicans and the President if they won the house and Senate? I am still waiting to see this. All I see is grandstanding. Get the real work done, enough is enough!!!

Re: Letters to my Senators

If you wrote them and you sent them, kudo's to you Eric. Just keep in mind that they have already succeeded in deluding half the populace with their anti war drivel. American opinions have not driven them, it's the other way around. In their quest for power they have taken up every positition that is anti Bush. It is the Liberal Elite, in concert with the media that has formed public opinion on the subject of war in Iraq as part of the war on terror.

CRUNCH IS BACK! Welcome back! Sorry about the internet connection.

And Eric, good on you for the letters.

And remember, when talking about liberals, here is a good definition:

Well said Plainsman!! 8)

Let's not leave the Repulicans out of this either. Both the Republicans and the JackAsses, should be focusing on issues of this Great Country, instead of positioning themselves for the 2008 election.

The only two reasons for a deadline for removing the troops by September by the Left is if they win the election:

They will have bragging rights prior to the election, that they ended the war.

And the biggest victory for the Left will be that the democratic President if elected will not have to deal with the war.

What you all REFUSE to acknowledge is...
That the "emboldening our sworn enemy" garbage is simply and strictly propaganda.
That baby bush does not now, and never had a plan. That the redumblicans have done nothing while they were in power except rubber stamp king george's mandates.
That so far there has been NO accountability of progress in Iraq.

Whereas I do not agree with a mandated withdrawl date, and think that the "surge" is little more than a small wave, I can't see where the repubs are doing anything but playing spoiled pouty brats. Compromise takes effort on both sides. You all expect the Dems to roll over and acquiesce to the repubs demands.

So far baby bush has been given nothing less than a blank check for his pet war, and the cost has been forced on the backs of common citizens. It is about time congress makes some demands for accountability. A hard and fast deadline is WRONG, but a total lack of accountability as has been the case so far is equally wrong.

Re: Letters to my Senators

So you agree there should not be a timetable, that is great! And was on topic.
But the rest of your post is disrepectful to rebublicans and the President, and according to the rules here in DC is not allowed. But thanks for your input.

Wow n' I thought Rolmops n' PW2 had some strong smoke that was effectin their thinkin'. Ya ever heard of a li'l country called IRAN there: Demsvmejm? Ya been either smokin' or sleepin' 'cause they definately feel their pals in Congress are doin' their bidding. Why do ya think they were so bold with the Brits last week? Ya have enough cognitive ability to compare what Senator Durbin or Kerry says with statements by OBL's right hand terrorists? With people like you voting in Dems now in congress, this Great Country is in for some real trouble.

Just another lengthy diatribe by someone that doesn't have a vested interest, and never served, about something they know nothing about.

Too bad all the people qualified to run this country and Congress are too busy cutting hair, driving trucks, building houses, teaching school, etc. etc. etc.

You want to make a difference? Do something for the common good besides spout off on a message board. What volunteer organizations do you belong to? What civic agencies are you involved in? What religious or charitable organizations do you belong to? What's that? Oh, nothing? You just like to use derogatory and belittling terms like King George cause your not really capable of doing anything. Whether you like the man or not, he is the President of the United States. His office isn’t something to be made fun of.

Sad. You and all your little democratic friends. Just sad. You don’t have a rational argument, just an emotional one. Can you not think? Must you get your ideas from the media and others? God what a travesty

I agree with what you said absolutely, except for the no timeline bit. This won't be won until the Iraqis do the hard political stuff everyone agrees they need to do, yet so far have only offered lip service to actually doing it. I presume Mailiki, Iran, Sadr, and the others think that we will continue to help the Shias win their civil war for them over the Sunnis, and someone at some point in time has to hold their feet to the fire and get it done.

The American military cannot win this war, no matter if we put in a million extra troops.

And I said as much in my letter to my senator, Carl Levin

TOO LATE!!! The tragic comedy began on his first inauguration day.

OUCH!!!! What a scathing defensive diatribe. No I did not serve, not because I was unwilling, I just was unwilling to take part in the lies the recruiters were telling me. Nothing political, just that I would get credit for my vocational training, and then when it was time to sign, I was to get no credit at all. Or like I could choose where I spent basic and my first two years, then when it came time to sign, there was no provision and would be no provision. I would be sent where the military felt like sending me. I don't care to hear about the military's need and serving it, I was promised something to get me to sign and then the recruiter refused to honor that promise. Nothing political, just lies, and that is why I did not serve. At least my daddy didn't get me into fake service where there was no chance of me seeing combat. I'm not saying the National Guard is fake service, just baby bush's service to it.

Re: Letters to my Senators

PW,
Normally I agree with you pretty closely. However in this case I agree that if we say March 2008 we will pull-out unconditionally, then we are saying that if those opposing us can hold out that long we will be gone and then they can have their way. However I do agree that we need to take a hard line and mandate progress from the Iraqi governement. There must be ramifications for failing to meet our demands for progress, but a prescribed pull-out date is to full of dangers. And a demand for accountability from this president, and future presidents for that matter is necessary too.
