Re: lewis and clark lake?

well, guess there must not be too many folks in that area.... ok with me.....
put in at wiegand marina. the lake level is down but the ramps were servicable.... though just barely.... end of the ramp was a shade close... my guess is that lewis and clark is 9' down presently.... reason i say that is the gps w/ lake map said water level in one area i was in was 11'.... well, it was 2' deep. knee deep even.....;) no big deal. was real nice soft sand and was able to just walk it off the sand bar i'd found...... found it going slow too as i thought i was treading on thin water.... glad i was idleing.... not even any damage to the prop and i did have it in the sand.... other than staying off the west end of the lake. it's most serviceable... was a great weekend with lots of boating....... whew, i'm beat....

for yer enjoyment.....

Thanks for the report and photos Ziggy.

I'll be heading down that way pretty soon, as soon as our schedules match up with the kids'.

Wiegand Marina and stay away from the west end ... OK. Thanks.

yer gonna have a good time man. it's a nice place to go.
if ya got sonar, that'd be best. i don't. ya can go up river (west), just be cautious. saw a couple a big cruisers going up the middle with better success. i was kinda on the sd side on the west end when i ran aground. went up that way cause there isn't many folks on that end. for good reason i find, ;). i just wanted to see how far ya cold go before trouble... it's a nice lake to explore... have fun on your trip.....

Yep, sonar equipped! I'm REAL careful/cautious during any maiden voyage on unfamiliar waters. Even after being out and about, I'm still very careful and cautious (and courteous!) because you never know when a submerged tree may decide to uproot and float right below the waterline ... my buddies that boat in Devil's Lake, ND have warned me about that because they've seen the results...

Thanks for the post, and can't wait to get down your way!!!

P.S. My wife loves looking at unique/odd rock formations; and we'll try to hunt down the location of your photo! Don't tell us where it's at ... the hunt is part of the excitement!
