Liferaft Help

I am in the process of researching life rafts and would like some advice and suggestions. I am strictly a recreational fisherman who will fish 30+ miles off the coasts of MA/NH/RI. I would like this raft for my own personal comfort. As I get into researching there are a wide variety and costs of options to me. I have decided that a 4-man is enough capacity. Boat is a GW Sailfish, if that matters, and I plan to roof mount one in an enclosure. I have reviewed some used, but it appears after recertification I am at or near the same costs of ones new. I have also noticed that some are 3 year recertification's and some require it every year.

Thoughts? Suggestions?

Its one of those things that you hope will never be needed... but when you need it you don't want the one built by the lowest bidder.

Where a life raft is required, so too is certification...

Where a life raft is optional, so too is certification...

If a used one is well cared for but just out of cert I for one would probably inflate it, look it over and not worry too much about certification if it was for my own use only...

If you were taking charters it's be a different ball game.
