Lift Brackets, Trim Tabs, or ???

Just repowered my 1988 20 foot Stratos Dual Console 2000. Went from a 150 Johnson to a new Yamaha 150 which weighs about 80 lbs more. As a result, when I dock my boat and tilt the motor out of the water, about half of the lower unit still sits in the water and develops marine growth. Trim/tilt settings and motor height are according to factory spec thus the question comes whether I can raise the height of the rear of the boat while it sits or must I raise the engine higher off the transom. Do trim tabs raise the boat height at rest or are manual or power lift brackets the answer to my problem? Any help would be appreciated?

Re: Lift Brackets, Trim Tabs, or ???

trim tabs will not lift your boat up sitting still, will just add a little more weight on the back end. Jack plate will lift your engine, but will also add more weight. <br />Any way to transfer some weight from stern to bow?
