Going to replace transom,stringers,and floor on 83 Cajun fish and ski 16'. Pulled motor,splashwell drain tubes,and split hull today.Everything disconnected.Top cap is much heavier than I expected and im not sure if I should install some timber under flanges that normally are screwed to floor and lift from there or brace up top and lift.Has anyone ever seen or heard of a top cap breaking during a lift? I fear that if open area of cap is left unsupported this may happen as cap is heavy front and rear.layout of cap and live well locations would only allow timbers near front and rear,which may be OK,but after placing a 2x2 under rear corners and up front the cap still is touching hull midway.How much sag do you guys typically see in a cap during a lift.I don't want to break it and boat is beautiful other than wood rot and worth restoring to me.I have a tractor to lift with and planned to pull hull out from under cap and place cap on pallets with 2" closed cell foam on top and tarp up till repairs complete.Any advice appreciated!!
