Lifting Force 40hp with hoist???

Where is the best place to hook an engine hoist to a force 40. There is no hook on top of the block. Is flywheeel ok?

I usually take flywheel nut off and either drill a 2 inch dit of angle iron and bolt that to the end of the crankshaft with a lifting hole in the other side of the angle or if I have another nut weld a hoop of 1/4 rod to it to make an eye to lift on

I used a 3/8" plastic coated cable with eyes as a double rap/strap to lift my 35 HP Chrysler (attached). That gave it good balance and easy movement. Good Luck! jow

Thanks Wick, thats exactly what I needed. Something temporary, loading motor up to sell. I was thinking the same thing.

I use 2/ 1/4-20 eye bolts
On the flywheel should be 3 bolt holes.I clean them and use the eye bolts..
