here's a dilemma I have... the light that came on the boat, 2005 rinker captiva 212 rx1, was a pop off type, when it gets hit, mostly from anchor rope, it pops off but still hooked up, well the base broke so light bounces all over the bow, so I bought one 3/4" shorter than the old taller one but from the looks of things, if I use the bow cleat to anchor in river, which we do all the time, it will bust the light off when boat sways in current... anyone ever had this problem and how did you fix it????

Sold my Rinker 232 which had Nav light like what your discussing. Anchored many times on the river and other places and never had an issue with it damaging the Nav light. The boat stays straight when in the current of the river and there shouldn't be much side loading of the light
