OK, I got some of these rocker switches for my boat...
In replacing the current switches, I have kept the on off part of the wiring the same...the positive runs through the switch.

Theres a third leg on the led rockers...for the led I imagine...what do I do with that, just run it to a ground?

Sounds like a dumb question, but the instructions were a vague pictogram!

Go this link...you are probably needing the final rocker switch (lighted) diagram. There are two ways explained--one lights the switch when turned on, and the other lights the switch all the time.

Re: Lighted LED switches wiring...

Why would you want a lighted switch on all the time. They are indicator switches which means they tell you when they are activated (ON). The third connection is a ground connection for the internal light. Wire the switch like a normal switch. +12 volt in and the out side goes to the device. When the switch is turned on, +12 volts goes through the switch to the output side and on to the device. The output side of the switch also feeds one side of the internal light. The light cannot turn on however unless it has a ground. Hence the third connection. Here is a diagram.

This is a drawing I did for a simple 5 switch helm panel with corresponding breakers that shows the concept of an indicator light on each switch, except for the horn, which is momentary on/off, so it doesn't need one...
