Lightwin lower unit interchangablity ?

Hello, will a lower unit (weedless) from a 1953 lightwin fit and work on a 1956 Lightwin ? The only difference I can see is the '56 LU has a single verticle slot on each side to the rear just below the the mounting flange and the '53 doesn't. (Pics, green one has slots blue one does not )

Maybe just an extra water drain or somethin'. Shouldn't matter at all.
