Re: Lincoln LS

Ron G, she'll love it. Mrs Boomyal has had hers now going on 5 months. Certainly not long enough to give you a reliability report but we have had no problems.

I would stick to a 2003 or later as they have basically stayed the same since then and many issues had been worked out by then. I have a neigbor who has a 2000 V6 with about 60k miles on it. Although the earlier LS's were more prone to issues, theirs has been trouble free. They report about 18 +/- mpg in mixed driving and our experience, improving as we speak, (3k mi's on it now) is up to 17 mpg in mixed driving.

As DJ said in my other post. It is a great drivers car and very hard to keep from 'using it'.

It does not have as much room in the backseat or trunk as the new Lincoln Zephyr but it is a great two people luxo performance car, undoubtedly an excellent value, especially used.

Since we got ours I have talked to numerous owners and they all love them. I did have one customer however, with a 2000 V6, that finally dumped it because of unsolveable electrical problems. She realized that she had a lemon and said she would not hesitate to buy another one.

Also FYI, this is the last model year for the LS.

Re: Lincoln LS

Ron G,

We bought a new '02 LS in Jan '03 - still have it w/ 53k on the clock. It's the LS Sport, V6. Since it's just the wife and me, we don't need a big car - this one is perfect. We did have a tranny problem and ultimately - at about 20k - Lincoln replaced it at no cost to us. No other problems. As others have observed, about the only trouble you'll have with it is keeping your foot off the accelerator - it is a quick, fun car to drive plus it's quiet and comfortable.

What are the prices and mileage that you are seeing Ron? It is uncanny how well certain people can keep their cars so clean and 'unused'.

Re: Lincoln LS

The 2001 had 84,000 clean just like new,$10,000.the 04 was the same not a flaw on it.they was asking $18,000 but was really wanting to work with me,we really cant afford another car right now,i keep telling the wife lets wait 6 months but you know how that is,shes talking about working 2 more days a week as a PRN nurse.Seems like theres alot of them for sell now,and alot of younger people are wanting and driving them now.

Re: Lincoln LS

Get the sunroof, my wife loved hers with the roof open on pretty days, now insist her new cars have sun roofs. Never a problem with a Lincoln that the dealership did not take care of. She had Lincolns ever 2 years for about 10 years straight.

That's what Lincoln had hoped for when they designed the LS. It is very BMWish without the price tag. I guess they had to wait for the second string buyers to see their desire fulfilled.

Ron, for price verification be sure to check Craigslist, AutoTrader and even Ebay.

Two years ago a friend bought a '99 1500 Suburban, from Houston Texas, on Ebay. He saved a ton of money on it. I flew down with him to drive it back to Vanc Wa. We took 5 days and had a whale of a time.
