I have a clymer manual and read through the V6 instructions, but it never mentions starting points for the throttle stop screws or cable trunnions. Is there a starting point?

Also, do the throttle and gear cables need to be disconnected before starting the link and sync?

Get rid of that Clymer manual!
Here is an original factory manual for 20 bucks!

I ordered the manual, but do the throttle and gear cables need to be disconnected before starting the link and sync? I really want to try and get thru this tomorrow.

My V6 manual does not say to disconnect the cables. Its says with control in nuetral check that throttle plates are just completely with just slight tension on the cable.
In my book its a couple pages to to the job.It includes setting the timing advance with the throttle.
If my scanner was working i would post it.
Best bet is to get them close then adjust after you get the manual.
