Hello to all from a new member. I have been a boater all my life and could have used this forum many times in the past. I have a 1987 90 Evinrude on my whaler and today when I had it apart for a new voltage regulator I noticed that at full throttle the carbs are only open about 80%? Is this normal? There doesn't appear to be a way to gain more movement because the carbs are opened by a plastic cam without any way to adjust it, anyone else noticed this? Maybe it's supposed to be this way as it seems plenty fast. Thanks for all your help.

Dan

Re: Linkage not opening throttle all the way.

Look inside the carbs at the throttle plates and see if they are inline with the throat when control is wide open. Sometimes there is additional throw in the linkage after wide open is achieved, but this will actually slow the motor up if the throttle plates go beyond "vertical".
Good Luck
PS Welcome to the forum and post what you find

Thanks, I will remove air cleaner and check that. I also need a new tach, any suggestions where to get one online?

Dan
