Does anyone know how to link trolling motors? I was thinking of buying two or three trolling and wanted to steer them at once. Is it possible? If so how?
If you have ever tried to link three trolling motors together, you might be a redneck. Sorry, you just cant pass that up.I bet that it could be done with some rods and some sort of ball joints.(such as are on go cart steering setups)Post pictures if you get it done I would like to see it.
Just curious, but what do you need three trolling motors for that you can't accomplish with one? Then you have the issue of all the batteries needed to run this beast.
Its cheaper to run more than one than it is to have one as the sum of the other motors. Also the bigger trolling motors require more than one battery also. Recently Ive been thinking of getting one with 100lbs of thrust. whoa i just realized ls and 1s look the same. Does anyone have a big trolling motor like this?
OK -- I'll bite. Cheaper to run several small ones than one big one? Let's see those numbers and don't forget batteries, wiring, breakers, and the fact that you need two or three buddies along to do the foot work controlling everything. And of course they add bunches of weight which defeats the purpose of adding the motors in the first place.
I was on a electric only lake recently and a lot of the pontoons had two trollers linked together with a cable to a steering console. The boat we rented had a Briggs and Stratton electric outboard and it was really nice. Lots of power and ran a long time on 4 batteries.
Yeah, I live by 3 electric only lakes. The closest gas one is about an hour away. Ive been looking at electric outboards and I think I might get one of those..... but i did see someone by himself on the lake the other day with 4 trolling motors.
