I will be doing some work on my '79 6hp. The liquid gasket directions say they are heat tolerant but then go on to say not to use with oil or gas.

They are silicon based. I asked about paper gaskets (NAPA)and was told to bring an old one for thickness comparisons. The paper costs about $6+ a foot. Heck, a foot would cover my motor.

Re: liquid gasket?

just used a liquid silicone gasket to seal an annoying hydraulic leak, just a tiny amount in the right place worked wonders.

Re: liquid gasket?

Regular black Permatex is much more oil resistant than Ultra black (which is O2 sensor safe). If the mated surfaces crush to .008" or less, Anaerobic sealer is best...T
