After becoming a boat owner I have lurked around to learn. It seems after reading most of these threads and posts that proper maint. will prevent costly repairs and stranding out on the water. But I just bought this boat, had a mechanic look it over, and was stranded in the water the first day. I took it into the boat shop, a bigtime place, and they assured me that they would look everything over and let me know. They put in an electric fuel pump, corrected some wiring issues, replaced fuel lines, misc. nuts and brackets.. Costing me 783.75 in labor , and 595.00 in parts= 1379.04... and it took over 15 days to get my boat back.. Got it back Saturday, took it out yesterday. Warmed it up, went to WOT and bogged down, nose shot so far up I had to stand up for over a minute to see!! Went to put a skier out and couldnt pull her up (115 ibs)- I have a 5.7L 350ci 200hp with an Alpha 1- I thought that would be plenty to pull a skier and not bog down. Then i pull up to the beach and other people tell me I am dumping oil?? I head back to loading dock, and see my oil press. is almost zero. Called mechanic, he said to WOT and it would raise back up. I tried, but it would die. Did it 3-4 times and kept dying. Its back in the shop... I had told mechanic about the bogginf issues and he thought it had to do with fuel pump.. Basically there are 15 causes for WOT- How much money is it going to cost me to get a mechanic to figure it out? And is it unreasonable to for me to ask him to put it in the water? What may be the culprit here?
