Little design problem

I have a 16' Lund that I am restoring. I have a bow mounted trolling motor of the older vintage. Right now when I'm driving back and forth to the lake I have to take the trolling motor off the boat because it bounces too much. I'm thinking about making something to hold the trolling motor from bouncing.

I could just take a chunk of wood and carve a notch for the trolling motor shaft to sit in and strap it down, but I'm hoping for a more elegant answer.

Can you guys think of a nice way to do this. Maybe something that can be folded down or removed while the trolling motor is in use.

If you want to get fancy, I have an idea that I think would look good. Take some styrofoam, and stack it up so you can carve out a channel that the trolling motor can sit in. Make it nice and rounded at the edges, and use this as a base to fiberglass over. You can then finish and paint the fiberglass, and end up in the end with a professional looking trolling motor holder that looks like big bucks.

Do you have a photo of your setup?

I dont have any photos right now. I'll have to take one this weekend when I get back to the lake. Thanks for the idea. I've never worked with fiberglass but that doesn't mean I can't start!
