Hey guy's,how do I properly install The shift yoke and cradle on the drive shaft? The illistration's on my online manual is a little to hard to see. thankyou
With the gearcase off and upside-down. Do that and it's a piece of cake. (If the gearcase is still on, you can still do it with the whole outboard upside-down.) Engage the fork into the cradle, place the cap, then move the shift shaft around to align the hole in the fork with the hole in the bottom cap. It's easier if you have a ice pick or similar device to get the holes aligned first, then install the pivot screw. It also helps to hold the cradle in the shifter (they call it a clutch dog, but it never slips or barks ) with a healthy dab of grease.
ok I have it upside down, put the cradle on, then the yoke and connected the shift rod,is there another piece I'm missing? when i turn the drive shaft I see 2 hole's lined up? sorry this is my first time
