My 3.0 1990 omc cobra ran great the first time up river then loud knock and i cut off. Brought it home and put the hose to it started great 30 seconds later and bam hell of a noise toward rear and it cut off. I didnt have the prop turnig when this happened. What do u guys think. Drive gears screwed. This has hosed my sons birthday. Thanks,Jeff

Since you wanted little help, here you go.

Remove the drive and start the engine for 15 to 20 seconds to see if the knocking is still there. If it's gone, you have drive problems, if it's still there, you have engine problems.
