Little Hose? - Outdrive (1992 MerCruiser 3.0)

I was puttering around a lake yesterday and when I pulled the boat from the water, there is a little black hose kinda hanging out of the outdrive. It definitly wasn't like that before. Any idea what it is? It seems to run fine. I'm relatively new to these I/O motors. It's a 1992 3.0L MerCruiser on a Bayliner Capri 1850. Thanks!

A pic would do wonders, or at least the diameter and color of the hose. 'little' is a little vague

does your speedo still work? There is a little black rubber hose on the back of the drive for the speedo (assuming it doesnt have a transom mounted pitot tube...)

That'd be my guess too, pitot for the speedo. Some owners just tuck them in on the drive and forget about them if they have a transom mounted pitot, so it might have come loose from wherever it was located.

If your speedo still works (pitot on the transom) you can trim the hose off and forget about it.
