You have a 1973 9 1/2 hp. Are you using fresh gas & oil? Hose may not need to be replaced. Does the bulb stay hard after you pump it? Does the gas can have a vent screw and is it open a couple of turns?

Hi, Kimberly.

Do you have a manual? If you plan to work on your engine you need one.

Did you have an earlier post on this same problem?

Please stick to one thread. If we can't get all of the information in one place we will end up spinning our wheels and wasting your time and ours.

Sounds like you have a fuel starvation problem.

Please fill us in on what you know that isn't in this thread.
