¿Does anyone know why we sometimes receive a white block with a little red x rather than a picture? Folks often try to post/attach a photo/picture/etc., and all we get is the "little red X". ¿What is the technical reason?

Because they are trying to post a image that either has a bad url or the url is incomplete, or the place they are linking to does not allow image linking, called bandwith.

Ok, sbn and others, explan this one. I sometimes get the "x's" in place of the graphics on this page. Such as the manual and outboard icons at the bottom of the page, and the iboats logo at the top.

It is also caused from a FIREWALL, or some other pop-up or ad killer.
Do you have a firewall or other security program running? If so, then your security settings may be set too high.

When I was using DirecWay internet service, sometimes I had to right click the 'RED X' and choose "show picture"... Sometimes it helped.
Something about DirecWay and thier cache..I don't remember.

Spinner is right...Most of the time it is a bad URL or the picture URL was entered incorrectly.

H.

roscoe, that sometimes is just server problems on this end and sometimes on your end.

When that happens, sometimes all you have to do is refresh the page and they are there.

And sometimes it's just a Steve thing. :p
