Little water coming from telltale on my 1978 mercury 850

Hello first time here and looking for some info I recently picked up a boat with a 1978 mercury 850 on it. I am trying to figure everything out to get it out on the water. One thing i noticed when I had it running was very little water coming from the telltale it was plugged with some dirt at first but not that it is clean I have a very slow but steady stream coming from it when hooked up to a hose. Is this normal? Thank in advance fellas

Try running a piece of Weed Eater string back up the teltale. First thing that should be done by anyone who buys a used engine, is replace the Water Pump Impeller.
