Live Well Aerator Issue

During my last fishing trip the fwd livewell aerator wouldn't turn off, so I just pulled the fuze. So when I got home I swapped out the switch with the aft livewell switch and it still wouldn't turn off, so I have eliminated the switch.

Question is could the aerator have a short causing it not to turn off?

Any help would be greatly appreciated, Thanks in Advance

Yes I would think so, and it may be the switch its self that is bad, stuck in the on position, that's a common failer.

Thanks for the response, I tested the switch (swapped out with the AFT Switch), and it had the same issue .... so I will replace the aerator itself.

Wait a minute! There is no way for the pump itself to fail in a way that prevents it from shutting off. This is a wiring problem. The first thing that comes to mind is the positive lead between the pump and the switch has melted to another wire that is hot.
