 I have a live well in my 1990 VIP 210 center console, the intake is mounted in the stern rigt below the engine bracket.
The livewell is in the forward bench seat, right in front of the center console.
Here's the problem....
When boat is sitting still the intake/stern is below water, but when on step I think the intake comes out above the water line. The problem is my livewell drains because the intake no longer is pumping in water.

I have asked a couple folks, and short of running another intake in the bottom of the boat (I don't really want to poke holes through the hull) what can be done?

I think the intake is an Attwood, the white plastic grid kind, if that helps?

No experience here but maybe some sort of check valve?

DougV>

Good thought, will look into check valves.

Anyone with other suggestions.

Is there such a thing as an extension for the thru hull that might put it under water?

VB Fishing,

You have to close the well off, in some manner for it to hold water.

Running the pump all the time is not the answer.

When using the pump to add water and keep it fresh, the bottom drain should be plugged. The overflow will exit out of the standpipe.

VB
I agree with DJ. It sounds like you did not put the bottom plug in. When sitting still boat will sink low in the water so water level will rise as outside water level and inside about the same. When on plane the water runs out the bottom drain as live well is higher than the outside water level. When you plug the bottom water will stay in the live well. The stand pipe or overflow outlet will let water drain when it get full.
