Live well plugs?

Youve been fishing all day, now its time to go home, its 90 degrees out side you want the fish to stay alive till you get to your destination. Which happens to be 45 minutes or more away.

What do you do?

thanks,
Thomas

You can get an aerator a wally world for 19 bucks and hook it up to your battery. Add a little ice to the live well and you're good to go! Don't go overboard on the ice.

I think I see what you are saying. You put your boat in the water and your livewell fills, but when you take off the water runs out. Right? When you turn you airator on, does it pump fresh water? Probably. If it does, and you have an overflow somewhere inside your livewell, (look and see), you need to fashion some type of a tube that goes into the fill drain hole that goes up a little lower than your overflow. (PVC works good) It should be a push in fit so you can remove it to drain it. You can install it at the start of the day before you launch your boat and fill with the pump, or leave it out untill it fills and then install it. This is a common way that a lot of early Bass Boats were plumbed.

Place a stand pipe in the livewell drain. 8" pvc pipe should do the trick.
Leave it in all the time, except for draining it.. If the water gets higher than that, it will overflow the tube and go out the drain.

Better than that is to put the fish directly on ice after the catch. Nothing keeps them fresher or tasting better.

You can use your livewell as a cooler. Completely plug the drain hole, add 2 inches of water and 2 gallon milk jugs of ice. Good to go for a day.
