I have a 1997 Astro 1700 bass boat with a dual livewell system. Rather than having a spray nozzle inside of the livewell for flowing water, my livewells had clear braided vinyl tubing with several small holes punched in the line of the tubing so that water could escape.
Looks like this:
Now after have a fish get rather lethargic at a recent tx I decided to look at the livewells a little closer. After inspecting the lines I noticed that they were discolored from years of use and thought it might be best to replace them with either new tubing or a spray nozzle head.
Installing a nozzle would be somewhat hard because I would be required to remove my gas tank and even then I'm not sure I could visually see the wells to replace the old hardware.
With the nozzles that are out today, do you think that I could take a small section of vinyl braided tubing and have the nozzle attach to that in the well versus removing my gas tank and trying to get to it that way? If not, does the original design sound sufficient enough (ie replacing the old tubing with new tubing)? I have had fish live just fine in an 8 hour tx with the original setup... I just think that I could benefit from new tubing.
Any thoughts? Thanks.
