I just bought this bass boat and am trying to figure out the livewell setup, there are 3 holes in the livewell, one is a threw hull below the waterline, another is an aearator at the top of the well that is connected to a hose that runs to a thru-transom pump(which im guessing is the inlet), then there is one hole on the bottom of the well that a hose runs all the way to the backof the boat w/ a screwdriver stuck inside it and clamped , it looks like maybe at one point it use to also be a thru-transom fitting, i came to this conclusion because right next to the inlet pump, there is another thrutransom hole, but it now has a drainplug in it? maybe it had a discharge pump? both thru-transoms are under the waterline, also the hole in the side of my tank that is the thru hull, wouldnt water just pour into the boat because its underwater?????

Only until it reached the level of the water outside the boat. If it cant get into your hull through a leak in your well or one of your lines, it will only fill your well.

Re: Livewell help please

The hole in the bottom that is clamped off should have a small piece of plastic pipe. The plastic pipe sticks into the hole inside the livewell and allows the livewell to fill up to the top of the plastic tube. Find the size of pipe and cut it so your livewell water level is just below the overflow hose. Unclamp the hose and remove the screwdriver so it functions properly. One thing to think of the previous owner may have done this because the hose may have a hole in it after where the screwdriver is clamped.

There are many types of livewell setups. You need to figure out if this is a recirculating type or an overflow type. Recirculators use a pump to fill the tank and another to recirculate the water through the aerator. I will guess however that you have an overflow type. A pump at the back of the boat pumps water up to the livewell through the aerator fitting in the tank. A standpipe fits into the drain hole in the bottom of the boat so the tank will fill until it reaches the top of the standpipe, it overflows into the standpipe and out the drain. Or -- there may be an overflow at the top of the tank. If thats the case, the live well requires a plug that fits into the drain in the bottom. Otherwise, you have a livewell half full of water all the time. You drain the tank by pulling the plug while under way. Put the plug back in when the tank is empty.
