Livewell HELP!!!

I just purchased a 2004 Polar 1700 CC. My question is, when I flip the switch for the livewell the pump does not turn on, but when I flip the switch for the RW washdown the pump comes on. They both run off the same pump. So why have 2 switches that do the same thing? I cannot get water to pump up to the livewell. Am I missing something. I have never owned a boat like this. Any help would be great

Re: Livewell HELP!!!

Im assuming if they both use the same pump they are plumbed up to different locations right? Ie you hit the livewell and it should fill it up, the RW washdown pumps it to another location correct? If they're using the same pump there may be an electric operated valve that diverts the h20 from one location to the other.

Since one is working and not the other start at the switch and check the fuse that feeds it. If the fuse checks out good grab a multi-meter or test light and flip the switch on. See if you are getting voltage coming out of the switch.

Re: Livewell HELP!!!

Yeah the Rw washdown is in the back of the boat and livewell in the front. I checked the switch last night, with a light tester and it was fine, so that would mean the fuse is good? I did'nt have time to check the fuse, as it was getting dark. The pump is a piranha 800. I'm not bad with mechanics, but when it comes to electrical, I'm lost

Have you tried turning on both switches? It could be one controls the pump and the other controls a valve.

You said you checked the switch with a test light and it was ok. That means the fuse is ok. If it weren't you would not have gotten a good test at the switch. Check the livewell spray head. Some of these are adjustable and many new boats have them turned fully closed. Once opened, they spray fine.

Re: Livewell HELP!!!

It is hooked up to the RW washdown switch, and the plumbing just has Y pipe that rediriects the flow to the livewell. Thanks for all the ideas:)
