I replaced the livewell pump on my bayliner trophy and it still doesn`t suck any water into the tank.I`ve checked the hose for blockage.I don`t remember the gph rating of the old motor.Am I supposed to apply sealant around the inlet side of the hose or do I need a more powerful motor.I haven`t check the part of the that runs out of sight to bottom of boat though, could it have a hole in it?

It has a 750gph pump and yes the wires are in the correct polarity.

how far does it have to pull water to get to the pump. you may have to pour water in the well, to get the pump to prime. or need a self priming pump. mine is connected to a thru hull fitting in the transom, and the pump mounts to the thru hull,

Where is the pump located? You may have two. Some systems have one located at the back of the boat. The inlet to that pump is below the water line and its purpose is to fill the tank. If there is another near the live well, that is a recirculating pump that simply takes water out the bottom of the tank and pumps it through an aerator back into the top of the tank. If that's the pump you replaced, it will do nothing until there is water in the tank.

I agree with Silver. Most Live well have two pumps. The fill pump normally near the transom and below the water line. Also the hull fitting has a screen over it. Since this pump is below the water line very important to use the very best hose and fittings. Also should be out in the open if possible and mounted solid because if the hose breaks or comes off it will fill the boat with water. Also should have a tapered wooden plug tied near the pump just in case something breaks to allow water to flood the boat. You use the tapered wooden plug to stick in the hole to stop the leak. Most fill pumps are on a switch with two position. One postion the fill pump is on and it pumps water into your tank. Switch will have a center off position. Also usually have a position that is on a timer and it is adjustable. It can be set to run a short time or a long time. Set it to run 1 minute every 5 minute or what ever time your want. Timer just helps save your battery if drift fishing all day with out the motor running to charge your battery.

Second pump is the circulation pump. it use when you have a tank full of bait and pulled the boat at the end of the day fishing and will not launch till the next moring. Also if you have a tank full of Sal****er bait but running up into fresh water to get lunch or fuel.

Follow you input hose to the pump. If it comes from the transom it will be the fill pump. If it comes from the livewell then it is the circulation pump.
