Did a few searches and get mostly bilge pump and electrical stuff...

My livewell pump died. It's 16 years old so I can't find a replacement motor cartridge (Attwood A500). I bought a replacement pump kit but I can't get the old through transom piece out. Is it screwed in? Is it glued in? It's plastic and I'm afraid I'll break it off and have nothing to grab ahold of to finish removing it. Should I just bash it out with a hammer? Boat is a 2000 Lund Alaskan, aluminum. Any other ideas?

These are sealed in the hole and it's probably just stuck to the sealer. The last one I did I took an old piece of a hacksaw blade and made 3 relief cuts evenly spaced around the inside. Then gently pried out the 3 smaller chunks.

Hope this helps. John

Thanks JD that did it. There were 2 plastic brackets that matched the angle of the transom so the pump would sit level, plus the thru transom tube, and everything had a very hard grey colored sealant on it. it was slathered on every part and both sides of the transom. Even after cutting with a hacksaw blade I had to force it out.
