In my livewell I have a thru hull pump beside the drain plug of the boat that fills the livewell and i also have a pump inside attached to the bottom of the livewell to pump water out. And there is a drain plug at the bottom of the livewell which is plugged while I am using the livewell. When I take the boat out of the water I pull the drain plug in the boat and then pull the plug in the bottom of the livewell, the livewell drains into the boat drain area and comes out of the boat drain plug. Is there a problem with doing it this way.

Re: livewell

I know that's how some of them work, I just personally wouldn't want fish smelling water being drained into the bilge. I guess you could rinse it down after each use, but it's more work. My livewells have a separate drain that comes out right next to the bilge drain plug.
