Brand new Lowrance. Turn on the unit and the screen says "GPS module is not responding"! WTF !!! Just wwere IS the gps module? The book (very thick, really has no troubleshooing hints as to the problem. All leads are corrected and the "resister" is located in the back of the "un-used" lead! Any hints?? Thanks!

P.V.
Its referring to the white dome-shaped GPS receiver which is separate from the head unit.It connects with a co-ax. Doesn't yours have one? Get ripped or just didn't buy the whole package?
Check out http://www.lowrance.com/marine/Products/LMS-480MDF.asp. After you get there click on the cable connections(pdf).
JD

Re: LMS-480 gps.....

JD, yes, I have the antenna connected! I did have an opprotunity to talk to another dealer who has install'd a few of these units yesterday! He said that they came across this same thing. It appears that Lowrance has (yet again) changed the procedures of connecting positive and negative wires on this unit. I guess there are additional wires besides the regular + and - leads. I'll have to review if I have that info. And look closer! Why they have to make changes ALL the time, (just to keep engineers employd, I gather) is beyond me! Even tho Eagle and Lowrance are almost the exact units, they have no common transducers, antennas, wiring harness, etc.. They sure know how to make it difficult. I like thier products, It's just the logistics that leaves much to be desired!!!! Are you listening, Lowrance????

Thanks, JD, That did the trick! Two additional wires and a shield'd one in the bundle of wires that ,prior to this, was just tied up out of the way. BTW, I never heard back from Lowrance!! Thanks, again!!!
