Hey all
I have a 2006 four winns 204 21' 5.0 270 horse. When I am loaded up with people I have no low end and it takes forever to plane out.
I am getting advice all over the place, mainly prop change. I currently have a SS five blade.
What do you think? Can I flash the prom? Do I need a new prop?
Unloaded it runs great, I need more power!
Thanks in advance

Hello pockets. You can put a hole shot prop. on it. But you will lose your top end.

If it runs OK after you plane, you may benefit from a lower pitched prop. Do you know the pitch of the current prop? What RPM do you achieve at top end?

This is not rocket science man. It has to do with load, thrust, and hull position with respect to the water. You answered your own question as you were asking it. You obviously can't get the same performance from you boat loaded to the gills as you can unloaded, just as you can't do the same from your car/truck/SUV or what have you.

The same rules apply. If you want your SUV to leap tall mountains with an elephant aboard, you will have to put in a large engine...big diesel with 650 ft/lbs of torque sort of thing, increase your rear end ratio to a 4:11 or higher and all that sort of stuff.

Boats are the same, needing engines of adequate size, maybe trim tabs to offset stern loads of passengers and engines, 4 or 5 blade props with prop venting and those kind of things.

Get it right and it will treat you right.

@Texasmark - Your advice is good, but this post is 10 months old. I'd guess the OP has either solved his problem or given up by now.
