Since I live on a big island we have a handful of boat manufacturers here. Most of these boats are made for the big water, it's windy here and surrounded by the ocean. I thougt I would share just a couple of pics that I took from a local boat show this morning. I thought it might be a nice idea to see what designs come from your local boat builders. The pictures aren't that great, I forgot my camera home and used my phone.

These are from a local boat builder. They have a yearly boat rowing contest and he built this one with an optional sail feature.

The next couple of pics are from a fibreglass builder and these boats are beauties. Very deep and made for the sea. They have foam floatation not only in the floor but on the sides up to the gunwhale. These are very classy boats and drew a lot of attention.

And this last one is from a local aluminum boat manufacturer. These boats are very deep, welded, and nicely made. This one has an optional side console.

I hope you enjoy the pics.

Re: Local Boat Manufacturers

Luv the new boat smell!:D
This year the attendance at NY boatshows were the lowest in decades. :( I started my search in the fall for an 18' skiff for capturing bait and shellfish in the back bays. The economy is still driving the market prices lower, but I need to pull the trigger soon before the rise starts again. On days like today with 30 kt winds, I could spend the time baitin' up instead of yard work!!!

Just a footnote here, I just received a phone call saying that I won the door prize at the boat show. It's an inflatable boat valued at 1500 dollars. I've never won anything like that before. Too excited.

Re: Local Boat Manufacturers

So here I was going to post a local Washington State mfg. (Where I used to live) and I find out they are moving their factory to Tennessee! ARGH!

Oh, well. Maybe they'll get a bigger national exposure.

An aluminum boat with no rivets and no welds. Lifetime guaranteed snap together bottom and sides. For years I had a 15' deep Vee with a 35hp Johnson. Far and away the best small rough water boat I've ever owned. I have a 17 ' Crestliner aluminum now and there is no comparison.

Check them out if you get a chance!
