Hi, I went to Go winterize my boat today and I only found 4 places that made sense where my drains would be, There were a quick release on each side of the engine block. and water came out of those. Then there was a blue knob on the top by the thermostat and then one way below at the bottom of all the belts. The top one is used as just a vent I think? My question is are there plugs for the manifolds also? or are there just those 3 plugs that drains everything? I ran anti freeze through the motor also until It came out of the exhaust. But i still dont feel very good knowing i didnt find any manifold drains? ANY response will be appreciated as we are expecting cold weather very soon

on a carbed engine like mine there are 5 blue drains.one out the front and one either side of the block and one to each manifold.maybe the mpi may be different but there should be a drain in the manifolds as these definitly need draining.does your boat manual state anything unusual.

That is what i thought. There are Two of the blue ones and then the 2 quick release ones. I looked again and there are no blue ones on the manifolds. could they possibly be brass but painted black? the boat is a 04 So wouldnt there be paint missing off of it from other people taking it off to drain it? I am just at a total loss. There is nothing on the bottom of the manifold and not on either end of the manifold either:confused:

Also the manual doesn't say anything unusual.

There are "pods" if you will- look like a bell off the bottom of the exhaust. they drain through the knob like the block quick connects, make sure you poked the holes after you removed the quick connects, they will get slagged up and not drain.

If i recall there are a few hoses going to the "pod" How does it disconnect? I fooled around with it for a few seconds but didnt think it was right so i didn't bother going farther with it. I guess i didnt see how it disconnected from the other part of it? does it just spin off? or do i just need to pull a little harder??

tmylott, I think I have the same set up on my boat (2008 Q6 Tahoe). It is called the single drain system. Do you have the blue valve with a stem that drains the system? The thermostat blue drain acts as a vent after you open the valve stem. My manifold drains also do not have any drain valves. The hoses go directly to my manifolds and held with hose clamps. ensure you prod the block drains as they do clog with sand/crud. I assume we have to disconnect the hose clamps and prod the manifolds also.

Did you remove clamps and poke the hole to ensure the manifolfs are drained? Could these possibly clog? They are 3/4 - 1" in diameter right?
