locktite or no locktite?

putting my midsection back together.
150 evin / the large main shaft has a 17/8 nut at bottom .
does this nut require locktite.or will simply torqueing it do the job

I would think torquing to specs would get it...someone will chime in though. Locktite sure makes you feel better and I don't see anything wrong with it, you can still get them off....just ALOT harder. :D

Make sure you use the service removable type, otherwise you will have to heat it if you ever want to get it apart. Rick

On mine Benny everything has Loctite blue on it.Maybe Dhadley or Ezeke will chime in.

I use red Loctite on mine. On performance motors we even put a small tack weld on the nut so it can't possibly move. An overkill for a recreational motor but we don't want any play in a race motor.

The blue is considered service removable, with normal hand tools, and won't vibrate loose. The red is considered permanent and is usually used to hold studs into mating parts. The red can only be removed if you heat it. Take your pick. Rick

every bolt on this thing needed heat .salt water motors are a mother.
