I saw this boat on a consignment lot evidently it is a 1958 or 1957. The windshield is that stock? It is plexiglass. The seat dividers do not look stock, look home fabbed. They boat looks ok but is it just extra parts added? The guy has a non period correct motor on it a 35hp evinerude and wants $2500 for it. He also painted it silver instead of buffing.

IMO, windshield looks added, not even original style. And for small scale of the boat, the windshield bracketa look too big. Probably got them from ebay, a few sellers offer re-pops, most offer 2 sizes, these would be the larger. I know 2 guys that cast them and, IIRC, Creative Casting offers the larger set.

bow cleats at either end of the windshield also look added later, too big for boat size and oddly placed, rather then original. IIRC, even on closed bow vintage boats, the cleats are further forward. Some had a single cleat/post in the middle of the bow cover w rope guides/chocks on either side of the bow, but again, further forward.

Should have a bow 'spear/rocket' style bow cleat right at the point of the bow. They are typical of 50s LoneStars.

Yeah it is a shame because sometimes people who want to get into vintage boats get excited when they see one and they are not educated enough to know what is right and what is a fraud.
