Long Island Cod Fishing is back

Twenty years with no appreciable stocks, and this year it's off the chart fishing. Something good amongst all the bad news. Check out the video. I fished on the Rosie 2 weeks ago and brought home about 50 lbs of cod fillet to share with friends and family.

Man, that is awesome!!! How can anyone shoot video when the fishing is like that!!! It has been about 15 years since I have fished for cod off the coast of Maine, maybe I should reconsider and book a trip this year. Thanks for sharing.

I was reading the same in "The Fisherman" I guess the baitfish in the area have bloomed bringing In the cod . I hope this is the sign of a great year . I'd Like the opertunity to go often and be sucessfull .
Angus do you get out that far in your boat when the weather's good ? Or do you take party boats ?

Both. Cod are on local wrecks and structure all along south shore of Long Island I can safely reach in my boat when the ocean lays down to 3-4ft. Video is from Rosie, a Moriches boat now in Montauk for the winter. Heavy action is within 10 mile radius south and east of Block Island. It was good for a week or two last year. It's been a bail job for about a month now.
