how do you messure an outboard.i am not sure if its long or short shaft ?

Wayne.... Measure from the underside of the transom brackets (the part that would sit on the transom) down to the cavitation plate (plate just above the prop), then subtract 1". The result closest to the following figures would be the shaft length.<br /><br />15" = Short shaft<br /><br />20" = Long Shaft<br /><br />25" = Extra Long Shaft
