Can someone tell me if a long shaft Merc (25")will work on a 86 Ranger bass boat?<br /><br />Thanks

I doubt it, Extra.<br /><br />You need to measure the transom height, vertical, from the top of the transom straight down, to level with the bottom.<br /><br />My guess (and this is only a guess) is that you have a 20" transom. If so, you can adapt a 25" engine, but it requires a jackplate.<br /><br />Good luck. :)

On a 91 ranger with a jackplate, a 20" shaft motor runs well 1 to 2" above the transom so with a 25" for optimum performance you may need to raise it 6 to 7" above the transom if that would be possible or recommended with a jackplate.<br />Just a thought.....
