I did a search but did not see this covered, boat was hauled today and i got a look at the damage done over the season "tight slip"..... The port side has a lot of surface scratches that are 4'long
most will buff out but there are a few that are a bit deeper.now were talking scrathes not gouges or dings
how best to lay into the longer ones
I bought the gel repair kit before i saw the amount and extent of scratches (just buy more ?)

how old is the boat? when gelcoat is new it is quite thick and scratches can be wet sanded, then buffed with good results, bear in mind that this procedure will shorten the life of the gelcoat because you are accelerating the ageing process..the other option is to contact the dealer for a can of gel-coat, spray the scratches with an air brush sprayer used for model cars, planes, etc.(purchase at wally world), it will spray the gel if you thin it correctly, use styrene, not acetone. then sand and buff. this way you don't thin the existing coating but the color may not match perfectly............
