Has any one changed the shaft on a troller to a longer shaft? I have a MK 40# with a 36" fiberglass shaft and would like a longer shaft to use the motor on the bow of my Starcraft Alum V-bottom. I searched google and all I found were replacement props and the typical replacement part.
Thx
Karrick

Re: longer shaft on trolling motor

Thx 4 the reply. I called the local Minn Kota dealer and he said he could install a new composite shaft for around $65-70 parts/labor. I assumed it to be my best option because I was not looking forward to spending $400 dollars on a new troller.

thx again

Re: longer shaft on trolling motor

Karrick,

Yes we have the shafts in stock. Most are less than $30.00.

The shaft is threaded and has been sealed with a thread lock material that
must be heated. You can use a heat gun. You want to heat the collar on
the lower unit just enough to release the thread lock and not melt the shaft.

To order call 1-800-364-3949, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. weekdays and until
noon on Saturdays.
We accept Visa, Master Card and Discover credit cards.

Thanks for checking with www.trollingmotorparts.com.
